Our boat: the trimaran Sloepmouche www.TropicalSailingLife.com © 2006-2015 A Norman Cross 46 built by Lemon Line Leisure (UK) in 1980, she is about 14m long by 7.57m wide with a draft of around 1.40 m on the main hull. Built in Double Diagonal Marine Plywood, she is Ketch rigged with a conservative sail area. As Brian Lemon, the first owner and builder told us "any boat builder has to compromise between safety, comfort and speed. I chose them in that order! " We totally agree with that philosophy! We feel safe in this strongly built boat that is most probably unsinkable due to construction materials and extra buoyancy added. She is definitively roomy and comfortable both at anchor and during ocean passages! She is fast enough for our taste, sailing between 4 and 9 kts, depending the sea and wind conditions. Her 60hp diesel inboard motors her along at 4kt using an economical 2 liters (1/2 gal)/hour.   Interior design : 3 double cabins (for us and occasional guests) 3 single cabins (used for storage and as workshop). 1 salon with galley, dining table, fridge/freezer, double sinks and storage 4 heads (3 in double cabins and 1 in shower area) 5 sinks with pressurized water. Also foot pump at galley sink. 2 showers (1 inside with propane water heater and 1 on back deck) Water tanks of 170 gal capacity + 12 gal/h watermaker (12vdc) Galley has a 190 dm3 Fridge/Freezer (12v Air cooled) + a 77 dm3 Freezer Stove/Oven, soda machine, propane BBQ in starboard cockpit, dining table in port cockpit Very good light and ventilation due to the numerous hatches & portholes and semi-permanently open portholes.   A 1100 Ah storage battery bank recharged 5 different ways:  12 solar panels (900 W), 2 wind generators, engine hi-output alternator (100amp), a shaft alternator for sailing and a small gasoline generator (2000 W) running an 2500Winverter/100Ah charger. Annex tender is a Caribe 12 RIB with a 15 Hp Long shaft outboard (it can attach on the swim platform to push the boat in an emergency) Anchoring: 70Lbs Bugle anchor, 75Lbs US Navy anchor & 35Lbs Danforth with over 400ft of 3/8" chain and 300ft of ¾" 3 strand nylon line.
